An exhibition of jewellery and small design “Voices and Things of Samogitia“ by Lithuanian jewellery artist Eglė Čėjauskaitė-Gintalė will be launched in Tokyo, at Gallery SanKaïBi. While exploring her roots, she was inspired by the poet and prof. Viktorija Daujotytė, who writes and recites in the Samogitian dialect. The collection of exhibits includes neck decorations, medallions, fasteners, medals, and hair accessories that were created by combining a variety of techniques and materials (bleached silver, radiant gold, corroded steel, brass, bronze, mammoth bone, rope, decayed fabric). During the exhibition, the artist will come to Japan for the first time and workshop at Nishiaizu International Art Village is expected.
◎Biography Eglė Čėjauskaitė-Gintalė Born 1978. Education: Bachelor Degree in metal art (Vilnius Art Academy, Telšiai Faculty of Applied Arts and Design) and Bachelor Degree in design (Vilnius Art Academy). Membership: since 2006 ‒ a member of the Lithuanian Artists‘ Association; since 2010 ‒ a member of the International Art Medal Federation (FIDEM).
Exhibitions: 2002-2016 ‒ 14 personal exhibitions; since 2001 ‒ participated in 80 group exhibitions; creative works participated in charity auctions in Japan (2015), Lithuania (2014, 2009, 2007, 2004, 2003), Ukraine (2007).
Awards: prizes and awards for medals and metal plastics (2013, 2006, 2005, 2002, 2001); awarded in the goldsmiths guild contest (2006), jewellery contest for stability and elegance (2012).
